Harry Kane leaves Jamie Carragher embarrassed on TV over 'false' statement after Bayern Munich beat Lazio

Harry Kane has denied talking to Jamie Carragher prior to his brace in Bayern Munich's 3-0 Champions League victory over Lazio on Tuesday night.

The Bundesliga giants went into the game trailing 1-0 from the first leg after slumping to defeat at the Stadio Olimpico.

But Kane was the hero for Bayern on Tuesday, with the England international netting a brace to propel Thomas Tuchel's side through to the last eight.

Thomas Muller was also on target, with Tuchel breaking his toe while inspiring his Bayern players with a passionate team talk before the game.

After the result in Bavaria, CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo quizzed Kane after comments from Carragher.

Carragher had said pre-match that he'd spoken to Kane, with Abdo saying: "Before we do anything, I think we should clear up, because Jamie said earlier on in the pre-game, that he called you and spoke to you this week.

"Is that true or false?"

And Kane responded by laughing at the question and saying: "That is false."

Carragher was left in stitches by Kane's statement, with the Liverpool icon jokingly retorting: : "H, don't do this to me!

"I'm telling everyone in America that we're friends, we've got a great relationship.

"I can't believe you've just done that to me!"

Kane added: "We are friends, but I'm not going to lie on national TV."

The pair proceeded to continue their conversation on X, with the Bayern Munich striker writing: "Sorry @Carra23 the truth will always come out."

Carragher replied: "Apologies Harry, I was trying to impress my American viewers."

He also accompanied his post with a string of laughing emojis.

Kane has faced scrutiny amid Bayern's difficult season, despite his outstanding goalscoring record.

But it's clear Tuchel's side would be in the mire if they hadn't recruited the England international from Tottenham back in the summer.

Kane feels Bayern can now turn their season around after beating Leverkusen, however, with the 30-year-old admitting they were under pressure to produce prior to kick off.

"It was the perfect evening for us. It was a big game," said the 30-year-old.

"We were 1-0 down in the first leg. It's obviously a big moment in our season. It was a top performance.

"Of course we know we have to improve, but nights like this can really change the season.

"I'm really proud of the boys and we just have to keep this momentum going."

Tuchel added: "We managed to be focused and disciplined over 90 minutes.

"We didn't do any crazy things either, we waited until the gaps opened up and had a better understanding of when to accelerate and when to take risks.

Bayern are next in action against Mainz in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Tuchel's side won 3-1 against the same opponents earlier this season with Kane, Kingsley Coman and Leon Goretzka all on target.
