Gareth Southgate could take a “heck of a gamble” if England emerge victorious in tomorrow’s Euro 2024 final, according to GB News star Stephen Dixon.
The England boss is getting his players geared up for their second final in three years, having lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy in 2021.
Speaking on GB News, Aidan Magee spoke about the possibility of Southgate remaining in his post should the Three Lions overcome Spain.
But Stephen said Southgate staying on would be a “heck of a gamble”.

“The next World Cup is in two years in the United States”, said Magee.
“And that is why I think Southgate will stay on. If they win it [the Euros], I think he he will want to go to the United States and win the World Cup as well.

“That would secure his legacy of immortality.”
When it was suggested that Southgate would be taking a “heck of a gamble” by staying on, Magee disagreed.
“I don’t think so”, he said.
“If he wins the Euros, his legacy is secured, he would have a knighthood.

“It’s not like they would go to a World Cup and completely flunk, they have too many good players for that.
“It’s only a two-year gap, so the cycle will not diminish.”
The England boss has spoken ahead of tomorrow’s final, saying he wants to win so badly “it hurts”.
It’s the men’s team’s third ever major final, and they head to Berlin with a chance to join Sir Alf Ramsey’s 1966 World Cup heroes in immortality.

Asked if the outcome of Sunday’s Euro 2024 showpiece would define him, the long-serving manager said: “It will. But in the eyes of others.
“Where I’m fortunate is that age and experience has made me more comfortable with who I am, what I’m good at, what I need to be better at.
“I completely understand that in the end, winning and what they means completely changes how you’re going to be viewed by other people.
“But the margins are so far and there are bits you can affect, others you are not going to effect.
“I would probably have felt differently about that three years ago, five years ago, but I’m in a different space now and that’s a good thing because otherwise I’d have been in a mess these last five weeks.”
