Scotland vs Ireland halted after sickening head injury between team-mates in Six Nations clash

Two Scotland stars suffered a horrific head-to-head collision during their Six Nations match against Ireland today.

Darcy Graham and Finn Russell were involved in the sickening clash that left both players requiring immediate medical attention.

The incident occurred as both players attempted to make a crucial defensive play, resulting in a violent collision that brought the game to an immediate halt.

Graham and Russell both leapt at speed to intercept a pass, successfully preventing Ireland's Gibson-Park from scoring what would have been a near-certain try.

However, their heads collided with force during the defensive effort.

Referee James Doleman immediately stopped play, calling out "Stop, stop, you've got men down."

BBC commentator Andrew Cotter described the incident, stating: "Darcy Graham... There's been a collision. It's Finn Russell as well on the far side."

Fellow commentator Chris Paterson explained: "It was James Lowe who got away down [Scotland's] right-hand side. As Graham has tried to recover, he's had a collision with his own man."

Paterson also noted the collaborative medical response, adding: "It's obviously nice to see the Irish medics on hand as well, helping out the Scottish medics."

The aftermath saw Graham stretchered off the pitch, whilst Russell was forced to undergo a head injury assessment.

The double injury forced Scotland to utilise both of their back replacements simultaneously.

Stafford McDowall was brought on to replace Russell in the backline.

Jamie Dobie was introduced to take Graham's position on the wing.

The double injury setback poses significant challenges for Scotland as they continue their Six Nations campaign.

Both players' fitness will be closely monitored in the coming days.

The situation is particularly concerning for Graham, who has already faced multiple injury setbacks in recent years.
