Thomas Tuchel names second England squad as shock recall confirmed

Thomas Tuchel has named his second England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Andorra and Senegal friendly.

The German has included a shock call-up for Ivan Toney after an impressive run of form in the Saudi Pro League.

The 29-year-old has scored 29 goals goals for Al-Ahli, and it is his first call-up to the squad since moving to the club for a reported £40million in the summer.

Along with Toney, Trevoh Chalobah's fine form for Chelsea has been rewarded. The 25-year-old has never made a senior appearance for England.

Atletico Madrid's Conor Gallagher and Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White have also returned, with both midfielders playing important roles in their respective sides' European pushes.

At the same time some of the big names that have missed out include Manchester City’s Phil Foden, and Europa League winner Dominic Solanke has seen his spot replaced by Ollie Watkins.

Foden, 24, has scored just seven goals this year, and has started just one of the last eight games for Manchester City.

Solanke, 27, has scored just two Premier League goals this calendar year. Watkins, in comparison, has scored eight.

West Ham's Jarrod Bowen also misses out, as Bukayo Saka returns to the squad.

Saka missed out on the last squad due to injury, so it is no surprise to see him back in there. Bowen, however, has endured excellent form as of late, scoring five in his last seven for a below-par West Ham team. He can count himself unlucky.

Marcus Rashford and Marc Guehi have dropped from the squad due to injury.

Tuchel's questionable decision to pick four goalkeepers in his last squad has been reverted back to three, with Aaron Ramsdale the unlucky party to miss out.

After returning from injury, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been re-introduced to the squad, replacing the unlucky Tino Livramento. It will be his last call-up as a Liverpool player.

Livramento, 22, has featured in all 36 of Newcastle's 37 Premier League games, as they have stormed into Champions League reckoning. He can also feel unfortunate to miss out.

Noni Madueke also receives a call up. The 23-year-old has 10 goal contributions in the Premier League so far, the same as Phil Foden, and it is his first call-up under Tuchel.

England travel to Andorra on June 7 in a World Cup qualifier. England currently find themselves top of the table after beating Latvia and Albania without conceding a goal.
