Ronnie O'Sullivan and Laila Rouass secretly marry as emotional statement released after reconciliation

Snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan and actress Laila Rouass have married in a low-key ceremony at St George's Town Hall in Shadwell, East London, ten months after ending their 13-year relationship.

The couple, who reconciled in January following their split last year, are reportedly planning to relocate to Dubai for what has been described as a "fresh start".

Rouass, 54, announced their union on Instagram with a photograph of the newlyweds covered in confetti outside the town hall.

The Footballers' Wives star chose the East London venue for its personal significance, having been born in the area.

This marks the first marriage for the seven-time World Snooker Champion, 49.

The couple separated last year but reunited in January 2025, nine months after their split. According to reports, they are planning to leave the UK for a new life in Dubai.

O'Sullivan is reportedly selling his £2 million home in Chigwell, Essex, as part of the relocation plans.

A source told The Sun that Dubai's proximity to Saudi Arabia, where O'Sullivan has a snooker academy, makes it an ideal location.

"The time apart gave them time to think about what they want and what is important to them and that is being together," the source claimed.

In her Instagram post, Rouass wrote about the significance of their chosen venue for the wedding: "It was Cable Street in Shadwell where I was born and where my heart belongs."

She referenced the area's historical importance, noting the 1936 Battle of Cable Street where "local activists along with the Jewish community gathered together to demonstrate against the planned fascist BUF marchers."

"The East End is the land of the immigrants. Its vibrancy, diversity and working class roots is something I treasure," she wrote.

Rouass added: "I was born there, I was educated there, today I was married there and I will be buried there because my roots are my roots."

Her post concluded with "Free Palestine. Mrs O'Sullivan."

Rouass was previously married to Abdeslam Rouass in 1990, with the couple divorcing in 2003. He was later imprisoned for fraud.

Following their December split, Rouass had spoken about using "pain as fuel to take control" and discovering who she had become. "Break ups can strip you down to your essence," she wrote on Instagram at the time.

A friend revealed that despite their years together in their Epping Forest home, O'Sullivan had never been able to convince Rouass to install a snooker table.

Celebrity friends including TV presenter Lisa Snowdon and former Loose Women panellist Saira Khan were among the first to congratulate the newlyweds on social media.

The pair will now look forward to many happy years together, despite the turbulence of the past few months.
