Manchester United forced to issue statement after Bruno Fernandes's X account hacked - as captain 'shares deluge of explicit posts'

Manchester United have been forced to issue a statement after club captain Bruno Fernandes' X account was hacked and a deluge of explicit posts were made from his official page.

The first of the series of bizarre posts was made at 11.12pm, with hackers on his account writing "Join Macclesfield FC. Excited for the future", referencing the National League North side who knocked out FA Cup holders Crystal Palace on Saturday.

However, the messages became more explicit as time went on, with sexually-charged comments made about ex-teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, women's football star Alisha Lehmann and adult content creator Bonnie Blue.

The Manchester United star's account also wrote "joining England Cricket as they need all the help they can get", in the aftermath of the Three Lions' 4-1 defeat to Australia in the Ashes.

The hacker went on to post "u my n****", tagging popular British YouTuber Olajide "JJ" Olatunji, better known as KSI.

Other messages included "Jake Paul beat AJ but you aren’t ready for that conversation", and an initiation to two-time World Darts champion Luke Litter for a "1v1" on FIFA.

The compromised account also wrote "let's get rid of INEOS", the global chemical manufacturing giant led by British billionaire Sir Jim Radcliffe, who purchased a 25 per cent stake in Manchester United in 2023.

In a final message before all of the posts were taken down, the hacker posted an image of the scoreboard from when the Red Devils were hammered 7-0 by arch rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

Shortly after the posts were made, Manchester United's official account issued a short statement.

It read: "Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked.

"Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages."

The hacker responded by writing "f*** no way, I'll spread the word.

"Make sure you guys stay alert for any hacks."
