Xabi Alonso refused to single out Robert Sanchez after the goalkeeper's error-strewn display threatened to spoil Chelsea's winning start at Fulham.
The Spaniard secured his first Premier League victory as Blues boss, but Sanchez's display left much to be desired at Craven Cottage.
Chelsea won 3-2 through Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer, yet their defensive vulnerability gave Alonso an uncomfortable opening assignment in west London.
Sanchez was beaten by a tame effort from Josh King before pushing another shot into the path of Gonzalo Garcia. Fulham's £34million summer arrival from Real Madrid then headed in the rebound.
There was another scare late on when the 28-year-old raced from his area, but Antonee Robinson failed to beat him with a lob.
Alonso, however, offered his goalkeeper public protection and insisted Chelsea's problems could not be pinned on one player.
"It's about the team, it's not about the individual. The first goal, we can do better to defend, we can do better to avoid, but it's part of the game. We need to accept and to learn," he said.
"This is going to be a process. All the lines, from the strikers, the midfielders, the defence, the goalkeepers, we want to do better in everything.
"The goal was to start good, and we've been able to start well. Relax and carry on."
Chelsea maintain they are satisfied with their goalkeeping options. Sanchez remains first choice, with highly-rated Belgian Mike Penders, 21, installed as his deputy.

At the other end, Alonso's new-look attack delivered, with Joao Pedro, Rogers and Palmer punishing Fulham at crucial moments.
"They need to take responsibility, they need to lead the rest, they need to inspire the rest," Alonso said of his front three. "If they do, great, other ones will follow."
Enzo Fernandez entered from the bench and received a hostile reception from the home crowd, who booed every touch and aimed chants of "England, England" at the Argentina international.
Chelsea's travelling support responded by loudly singing his name.
The midfielder continues to be linked with Manchester City, and Alonso stopped short of guaranteeing that he would remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the transfer window.
"In football, I am not surprised by anything," he said.
"We will see. My wish is that we know what will happen for the future, but we will see this week."
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa, meanwhile, was left frustrated by the timing and manner of the goals his side surrendered.
"We conceded goals in the first minute, at the end of the first half and at the beginning of the second half. There are not worse moments to concede," he said.
"But we showed character and personality and I am very proud of how my players responded.
"We deserved a little more but football is not about what you deserve, it is about what you take.
"For me, they are easy goals for them and mistakes we cannot make. We need to improve and be more ready in the first minute, that is for sure."
