Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has accused Cristiano Ronaldo of "letting the team down" during his tenure in charge of the club.
The Dutch manager worked with the footballing icon in 2022, and their major falling-out consistently made headlines.
Ronaldo's contract was terminated less than halfway through the 2022/23 season, and Ten Hag was sacked by United in 2024.
The Dutchman has now opened up about some of the pair's clashes, suggesting the Portuguese didn't deliver the required work.
Ten Hag told The Athletic: "He let the team down, and he let me down, because we planned with him.
"I flew out to Portugal to speak with him about what I was aiming for before I came to United.
"Obviously, he's one of the best in football history. I respected him a lot. But at that time, as a manager, I had to make a rational decision and keep the players I admire in."
He claimed the footballing icon "pulled out of training sessions" and did not train properly when he was present.

Ten Hag referenced Ronaldo not running one of the three required laps after United lost 4-0 to Brentford, when the Dutchman made his side run a mile for each of the eight they outran.
The former Red Devils boss said: "I confronted him with this.
"Many times I say: 'Ronnie, everyone wants to work for you to bring you in the right position, but if you can't bring yourself in the box, you can't score.'
"He was not capable to do this. It's the wrong idea to put this to me that I expected him to do the pressing, that he's exhausted. But he couldn't.

"He ran neither in possession nor out of possession.
"The reason was because he didn't prepare himself.
"Every top team has to embrace the top player, but the top player has to work for the team.
"He was telling the players: 'Save your legs at the training.' I understand it when you are top fit - you have sessions, you can save the legs. But first you have to train yourself to get into the right fitness levels."

Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr just weeks later, but tense relationships with managers continued.
He recently stormed out of Portugal's camp during the last international break amid a row with manager Jorge Jesus.
The forward received a 30-day ban and was ordered to pay €255 (£215) by the Portuguese Football Federation for the incident.
